COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 13, 2002) — In response to the space industry’s need to attract top young talent, the Space Foundation will provide college students a jumpstart on their professional careers by conducting a College Career Fair April 10 at the 19th National Space Symposium. Space industry leaders from across the country will provide career counseling, industry briefings, company overviews, one-on-one interviews, access to the industry’s largest trade show exhibition center, and lunch. “This Career Fair will be one of the most meaningful and critical events for addressing the difficulties the space industry is experiencing in attracting high quality young talent,” said Dr. Patricia Arnold, vice president of education for the Space Foundation. “It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity for college students in such a powerful, concentrated environment to learn of new space jobs being created requiring both technical and non-technical expertise.” Students pursuing any major, not just technical areas of study, are welcome and encouraged to attend and explore the possibility of working within the space industry. The event is free to all eligible college students with a valid college I.D. The National Space Symposium, widely regarded as the premier annual space industry trade show and conference, will take place April 7-10, 2003, at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. More than 4,000-space professionals from around the world are expected to participate in the space industry’s largest gathering. Space Career Fair sponsors include the The Aerospace Corp., The Boeing Company, Colorado Aerospace Council, General Dynamics, Harris Corporation, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Swales. Students from more than 500 colleges, universities and special engineering and technical programs are invited to attend. Sponsoring organizations receive a special interviewing area, distribution of company literature during the event, and other benefits.
