Space Foundation names Brendan Curry vice president of Government Affairs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 8, 2005) — The Space Foundation today named Capitol Hill veteran Brendan Curry to the position of vice president, Government Affairs. In this role, Curry will lead the Space Foundation’s government affairs efforts based in Washington, D.C, serving as principal interface with key customers, staff, and officials in the Administration, Congress, the space industry and federal agencies including the Departments of Defense, Commerce, State, Education, Transportation, and NASA. Curry assumes responsibility, reporting to Steve Eisenhart, Space Foundation senior vice president of Policy & Public Affairs, beginning Dec. 1. “Brendan Curry brings deep and meaningful space policy and Capitol Hill experience to the Space Foundation team,” said Eisenhart. “His appropriations and policy experience, passion for space, and reputation on Capitol Hill and within the space community ensure he will be a terrific advocate for all sectors of space.” Since February 1999, Curry has served on the staff of U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon, M.D. (FL-15) and currently is Rep. Weldon’s senior legislative assistant, managing and facilitating much of Rep. Weldon’s role on the House Appropriations Committee. He has handled civil, commercial, and national security space policy issues, military issues, homeland security, energy, telecommunications, aviation and other transportation issues. Prior to working for Rep. Weldon, Curry served as a professional staff member for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Scranton in 1995 and a Juris Doctor from Pennsylvania State University in 1998.
