Space Foundation Expands Cyber 1.2 Conference Speaker Roster

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 14, 2012) —  The Space Foundation has added more dynamic speakers to the program of its third annual cyber event, Cyber 1.2, to be held April 16 at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. The full-day conference immediately precedes the Space Foundation’s other annual event, the National Space Symposium.

The Honorable Madelyne R. Creedon, Assistant Secretary of Defense, Global Strategic Affairs, will be the featured luncheon speaker for Cyber 1.2. The luncheon is co-sponsored by General Dynamics.

About Creedon
Creedon was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the assistant secretary of defense for global strategic affairs on Aug. 2, 2011. She supports the under secretary of defense for policy in overseeing policy development and execution in the areas of countering weapons of mass destruction, U.S. nuclear forces and missile defense and DoD cyber security and space issues. Previously, Creedon was counsel for the Democratic staff on the Senate Committee on Armed Services and was responsible for the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, as well as threat reduction and nuclear nonproliferation issues; served as the deputy administrator for defense programs at the National Nuclear Security Administration, Department of Energy; and was the associate deputy secretary of energy for National Security Programs at the Department of Energy. Creedon earned an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Evansville, Ind.  

Other Featured Speakers
Cyber 1.2 will open with comments by Lt. Gen. Michael J. Basla, USAF, vice commander, Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., who will discuss the strategic implications and the Air Force Space missions that relate to the cyber domain.

The other featured morning speaker is Maj. Gen. Suzanne Vautrinot, USAF, commander, 24th Air Force, and commander, Air Force Network Operations, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Vautrinot is responsible for the Air Force’s component numbered air force providing combatant commanders with trained and ready cyber forces which plan and conduct cyberspace operations.

The morning presentations will also include a Cyber Industry Dialog, featuring panelists:
