Homeschool Days Return to the Space Foundation Discovery Center

Written by: developer

The Space Foundation’s first Homeschool Day of the academic year took place Thursday, Sept. 17, with lessons focused on robotics and with nearly 100 students taking part (pictured). Homeschool Days at the Discovery Center are held twice a month and have been expanded this year, with lessons throughout the day to give each student more one-on-one time with our space education specialists, and hands-on activities to help reinforce the learning process.

The homeschool program includes hands-on science activities linked to learning about space travel and the universe in the Lockheed Martin Space Education Center, plus lessons in the Northrop Grumman Science Center, featuring presentations on Science On a Sphere® where we explore the solar system and Earth systems. In El Pomar Space Gallery, students study artifacts and models depicting the story of historic and future space exploration.

The theme for the October Homeschool Days on Oct. 7 and 22 will be “Train Like an Astronaut.” Register in advance for Homeschool Days here.

The Space Foundation Discovery Center is located at 4425 Arrowswest Drive in Colorado Springs, just off of Garden of the Gods Road. For information, call 719.576.8000.
