Space Foundation Expands its Educator Professional Development ProgramsCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jun. 21, 2010) — The Space Foundation is delivering two teacher professional development classes in Colorado this week, including one specially designed for teachers of very young children. The class is offered through a new partnership between the Space Foundation and Colorado State University (CSU) – Pueblo and gives teachers of very young children hands-on STEM education lessons they can take back to their classrooms. “PreK-2 Early Childhood Space Exploration,” is being held at the CSU – Pueblo campus. Also this week, at the Space Foundation Discovery Institute in Colorado Springs, educators are learning about the biological effects of space travel in, “Biological and Physical Research: Long-Term Space Travel.”

“The main purpose of this class is to understand what happens to your body in space,” said instructor Allison Reilly, Space Foundation aerospace education specialist.

Both of these week-long, intensive, graduate-level courses provide STEM education knowledge and content that is instantly transferable to the classroom. Participants can earn continuing education credits, graduate credits, or work toward a master’s degree in multiple related disciplines.
