Charles County Public Schools Renews Contract With Space Foundation for Educator Professional Development Courses
Written by: developer
For an eighth consecutive year, Charles County Public Schools (Md.) has contracted with the Space Foundation for educator professional development courses for its teachers.
For two weeks each summer, Space Foundation education professionals travel to Maryland to teach Space Across the Curriculum (SAC) courses. These intensive graduate-level courses for educators provide space-related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S-STEM) content that is instantly transferable to the classroom.
All SAC courses are experiential, hands-on and focused on national standards and STEM principles. Although the underlying focus is on STEM, the courses are structured to adapt lessons to all grade levels and all curriculum areas. Each course can accommodate up to 50 participants, and for 2014, the SACs for Charles County Public Schools will include:
July 28 - Aug. 1
Meteorology and Space Weather
PreK - 2 Early Childhood Space Exploration
Aug. 4 - 8
Biological and Physical Research: Long Term Space Travel
Earth System Science
The Space Foundation will also offer week-long Space Across the Curriculum courses at its world headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., during June and July. Educators who are interested in attending can find details here.
