Nation’s top military officer will participate at Space at the Crossroads Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 26, 2004) — The Space Foundation announced today that Gen Richard Myers, USAF, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be the closing featured speaker at Space at the Crossroads on Feb. 18, 2004, at the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation and Naval Heritage Center in Washington.

Space at the Crossroads is a highly focused one-day conference presented by the Space Foundation and Space News in association with the U.S. Dept of Commerce, Satellite Industry Association, National Space Society, and Washington Space Business Roundtable. Myers joins a distinguished list of speakers at the conference:

Myers became the fifteenth Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2001. In this capacity, he serves as the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Prior to that, he was commander in chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command; commander, Air Force Space Command; and Department of Defense Manager, space transportation system contingency support, at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Myers earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Auburn University.
