Space leaders continue to confirm participation at Strategic Space 2005

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sep. 26, 2005) — Today the Space Foundation announced that Maj Gen Frank G. Klotz, USAF, commander, 20th Air Force; Maj Gen Mark A. Welsh, III, USAF, deputy commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; Brig Gen Gregory J. Ihde, USAF, vice commander, George C. Kenney Headquarters (provisional) and commander, Pacific Air Operations Center; and Col James R. Horejsi, USAF, chief engineer and deputy director of Systems Acquisition, Directorate of Systems Acquisition, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command; will speak at Strategic Space 2005, which takes place 4-6 October at the Qwest Center Omaha Convention Center and Arena.

Ihde will be a featured speaker on Wednesday, 5 Oct. at 2:00 p.m.

Klotz joins Col Charles J. Precourt, USAF (Retired), vice president, Advanced Strategic Programs, ATK Thiokol, Inc., and RADM Melvin G. Williams, Jr., USN, director, Global Operations, United States Strategic Command (Designee), on the Thursday, 6 Oct. panel Global Strike and the New Triad: Providing Balanced and Capable Deterrence and Strike Options for USSTRATCOM at 10:45 a.m.

Welsh joins Lt Gen Kevin P. Chilton, USAF, commander, 8th Air Force and joint functional component commander for Space and Global Strike, and LTG Larry J. Dodgen, USA, commander, United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command, and joint functional component commander for Integrated Missile Defense, as a featured panelist on the Joint Functional Component Commands mega-panel Wednesday, 5 Oct. at 10:15 a.m.

Horejsi will participate in the Wednesday, 5 Oct. panel Cultural Change: Harnessing the Power of GenX Communication and Decision Models to Transform Strategic Command at 2:30 p.m.

Previously confirmed featured speakers include Gen James E. Cartwright, USMC, commander, United States Strategic Command; The Honorable Dr. Ronald M. Sega, under secretary of the Air Force; Lt Gen Robert Kehler, USAF, deputy commander, United States Strategic Command; The Honorable David Heineman, governor, State of Nebraska; and Mr. William V. Parker, political advisor, United States Strategic Command.

Additional recently confirmed participants are Mr. Paul Graziani, president and chief executive officer, Analytical Graphics, Inc., and Mr. Josh Hartman, professional staff member, House Committee on Armed Services.
