Leader in Indian Air Force to speak at Strategic Space and Defense 2006

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sep. 12, 2006) — The Space Foundation announced today that Air Vice Marshal (AVM) DN Ganesh, chairman of the Steering Group for Exploitation of Aerospace, Indian Air Force, will be a featured speaker at Strategic Space and Defense 2006. He will address conference attendees Thursday, Oct. 12 at 9:30 a.m. The Space Foundation and Space News present the fourth annual conference October 10-12, 2006, at the Qwest Center Omaha Convention Center and Arena. India’s space program is playing an increasingly larger role in the global space economy. India is one of only nine countries with its own launch capabilities, used primarily to put remote sensing and communications satellites into orbit. In 2004, the India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the Chandrayan I mission to launch a remote sensing satellite to survey the Moon. Ganesh previously was commandant of the Defence Image Processing and Analysis Centre (DIPAC). For the past few years, he has been increasingly associated with matters relating to military space and computerization and has written and lectured on satellites and aerospace issues. Strategic Space and Defense 2006 addresses both the space-related and strategic missions of the U.S. Strategic Command.
