ISU Calls for Passionate Papers, Proposals

Written by: developer

The International Space University (ISU) has issued a call for papers for its upcoming symposium, The Public Face of Space, Feb. 16-18, 2010, in Strasbourg, France. The deadline for submitting a 300-word abstract is Oct. 2, 2009. For submission details, follow the link from ISU’s home page at http://www.isunet.edu/. The Space Foundation is a supporting partner of ISU and works closely with ISU on outreach and education programs.

The three-day interdisciplinary international symposium will address:

  • Public outreach, promotion, and awareness of space activities
  • Formal and informal space education and training
  • Space benefits to society
  • Recommendations for a sustainable worldwide approach to space

“Recent surveys indicate that space has a less favorable image than often assumed,” said ISUPresident Dr. Michael Simpson. “We’re looking for innovative ideas far beyond what most people see today to solve problems and to persuade ‘non-space people’ to know and care about space.”

ISU’s selections of which submissions will be included as agenda presentations or as posters will be announced by Oct. 28. In addition to presentations selected from the abstracts, ISU will also invite papers from experts in agencies, industries, universities, and professional bodies.

ISU provides graduate-level training to the future leaders of the emerging global space community at its Central Campus in Strasbourg, France, and at locations around the world. Its two-month Space Studies Program and one-year Masters program offer students a core curriculum covering all disciplines related to space programs and enterprises: space science, space engineering, systems engineering, space policy and law, business and management, and space and society. Both programs include an intense team research project that provides international graduate students and young space professionals the opportunity to solve complex projects by working together in an intercultural environment.

Since its founding in 1987, ISU has graduated more than 2,700 students from 100 countries.

The Space Foundation will host one of ISU’s Executive MBA course modules next February in Colorado Springs.
