COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Aug. 5, 2025 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983 to advance the global space community, is now accepting applications for its International Teacher Liaison program through Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
Launched in 2004, the program empowers educators with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) tools and training to better engage students and inspire the next generation of innovators.
Now more than 400 strong across 41 U.S. states and territories and 25 countries, Teacher Liaisons are selected through a competitive process that includes a space-themed lesson plan, letter of recommendation, and application. Each new class is designated as a “Flight,” recognizing their mission as premier space and STEM educators.
The program is open to public, private and homeschool educators, as well as administrators, curriculum specialists and education outreach professionals serving students from kindergarten through college.
Selected teachers receive:
- Professional development and curricular resources
- Access to global STEM education networks
- Hands-on classroom projects and design collaboration
- Special programming at Space Symposium, including breakout sessions, keynote speakers and networking opportunities.
The 2026 Flight will be honored during Space Foundation’s annual Space Symposium, to be held April 13–16, 2026, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Teacher Liaisons will also participate in special programming that includes keynote speakers, networking opportunities and breakout sessions.
“I wouldn’t have the space knowledge I do today without my involvement with Space Foundation,” said Montana Gottman, Flight 25 International Teacher Liaison. “Through this program, I’ve gained invaluable resources, mentors and opportunities. My hope is to continue blending my role as a middle school science educator with Space Foundation’s mission to connect people, create opportunities and inspire generations within the global space community.”
Applications are now open at discoverspace.org/education/resources-for-educators/teacher-liaisons and are due by Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.
