Space Foundation CEO honored with space award in Houston

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jun. 5, 2003) — The RNASA Foundation (Rotary National Award for Space Achievement) of Houston, Texas, recently honored Elliot G. Pulham, Space Foundation President & Chief Executive Officer, with its Space Communicator Award. The award recognizes Pulham for his unique and diverse contributions to the public’s awareness and understanding of our nation’s space programs – civil, commercial and military. The award was presented at a black tie event in Houston. Previous Space Communicator Award winners include Miles O’Brien, “CNN News” anchor and this year’s award presenter; Walter Cronkite, former “CBS Evening News” anchor; and Bill Harwood, “CBS News” Space Correspondent. The program also included the presentation of the Stellar Awards, and was highlighted with the presentation of the National Space Trophy to retiring NASA Stennis Space Center Director Roy Estess. “It’s a humbling experience to be honored at an event where so many of the great and legendary leaders of space exploration are gathered,” said Pulham. “It is tremendous recognition for the important work done by the entire Space Foundation team.” The RNASA Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1985 by the Space Center Rotary Club to organize and coordinate an annual awards event to recognize outstanding achievements in space and create greater public awareness of the benefits of space exploration.
